CREATING A STUDENT MINISTRY CALENDAR Ben Crawshaw THE VIDEO DOWNLOAD THE NOTES DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO THE EXPERIMENT It’s time to get focused on your calendar. The best way to do that is go to an off-site location. It doesn’t have to be far away or costly. You could go to a local McDonald’s if necessary. Or, you could rent a cabin in the woods. The point is to focus on getting ahead. Think of the people who need buy-in on your calendar decisions. Invite them. DOWNLOAD THE EXPERIMENT THE COMMUNITY We don’t think your learning experience and experimenting is really complete until you’ve had a chance to bounce ideas off of other people. That’s why we created the Youth Ministry Labs Facebook Group. It’s private, so anything you talk about in the group stays in the group. And every Lab you purchase will gain another person from your team access so multiple people from your ministry can grow and learn and be a part of the conversation. Please do these two things to join the group…   Request to join the group on Facebook here. GROWING & MAINTAINING YOUR PERSONAL PLATFORM Elle Campbell THE VIDEO DOWNLOAD THE NOTES DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO THE EXPERIMENT STEP ONE: Use the four boxes at the bottom of this page to strategize the platforms you’ll use, the hashtags you’ll rely on, the influencers whose content you’ll share, and the peers who you’ll seek to support and partner with. STEP TWO: Use the one-year calendar provided to draft a big-picture view of the content you’d like to release over the next years. To give your content some direction, it’s often helpful to think about the topics, themes, or events that will be relevant to your audience at specific times of the month (like Christmas, summer vacation, or a big conference). STEP THREE: Use the one-month calendar provided to draft an entire month of content. Begin with any relevant themes you’ve determined for that month. Then chart the content you’d like to create and release across all of your platforms. It may be helpful to color-code this with markers or washi tape (like green for a blog post, yellow for a podcast episode, blue for a Facebook post, red for a post from a friend you’d like to promote, etc.). Then add details. Repeat for as many months as you can. This is something I will definitely share with my team, we will watch the video together, and we will talk through all that you suggest. THIS IS SO GOOD – thank you!! Stephen Perry Pastor of Middle School Ministry, 12Stone Church Love your new project!!! Clarity, focus, concise…so many possible venues to use this video piece. I would love to show this to my staff team as a “refresher” regarding our goals now that we are a few pages into the calendar year…but also a piece like this makes it easy for team leaders to pull together a post service coffee bunch or lunch bunch with current volunteers and do a quick training without having to dedicate someone to prepare the presentation. Always helpful when time is such a hot commodity! Your strategy and points are spot...
